5 Things You May Not Know About Cats

Is your cat sometimes a mystery to you? We have a few tips that may help you understand him or her a little better.

Want Your Kitty To Drink More?

Many health issues stem from a cat’s natural tendency to be dehydrated. Illnesses such as urinary tract infections and kidney stones. A great way to get your cat to drink more water is to invest in a cat drinking fountain. In nature, cats will usually opt for cool running water rather than standing water, which can often be contaminated. If you are one to leave your faucet dripping for your kitty, investing in a pet drinking fountain may be a better option.

They Prefer Canned Food

We recommend feeding cats canned food over dried food for several reasons. Cats are more inclined to eat the more aromatic canned food, it has more water content to help in keeping hydrated and it has a higher protein content. Keeping dry food out during the day is ok as long as your cat does not overeat and become overweight.

They Do Not Like Eye Contact

If you have a friend or family member who is not a fan of cats but your cat can’t stay away from them, it may be that they appreciate the lack of eye contact. Cats prefer to not be stared at and avoid someone who is staring directly at them. Next time your friend wants to be left alone, tell them to try a staring contest!

The More Tattered The Better

Has your kitty’s favorite scratching post seen better days? Before you kick it to the curb, think again. They actually prefer a broken in cat tree over a brand new one. If you would prefer a slightly more appealing look, think about adding some fresh sisal rope to their existing tree. This simple step could save your couch!
