Kennel Cough Announcement

To Our Loyal Clients,

The Doctors and health care professionals at McLean Animal Hospital want to inform you of an increase in contagious canine respiratory disease that is spreading around the Northern Virginia area. The disease, commonly referred to as “Kennel Cough” produces several symptoms ranging from: dry cough, sneezing, nasal discharge, lethargy, fever, and increased respiratory effort. The disease usually spreads in “high volume dog environments”.

These include boarding facilities, dog parks, doggy day care, and grooming facilities. We encourage all clients who have dogs who frequent these types of scenarios to update their pets on both Bordetella Bronchiseptica and Canine Influenza (H3N8 and H3N2) vaccinations.

If you are concerned that your dog may be exhibiting any signs of respiratory disease, we recommend isolating your dog from other dogs and please contact us at 703-356-5000 to set up an appointment with one of our doctors.

Sincerely,

The Doctors of McLean Animal Hospital
